It's been a rough couple of days in McNabb Land. Life has been a little topsy-turvy, to say the least. Delaney is slowly trying to recover from her surgery. She has been in alot of pain and is crying constantly. Her mouth is swollen and she still won't really eat, but the surgeon says that's somewhat normal. He had to remove quite a bit of extra tissue from the inside of her mouth before he could actually clip her tongue. She has a ton of stitches in there and has had a small amount of bleeding. The tip of her tongue, where the heart-shape once was, is cut and raw. She refuses to suck on her paci or a sippy cup. We even offered her a bottle, but she just seems too sore to put anything in her mouth. I've been giving her sprite in a syringe by squirting it inside her mouth. She's certainly a stubborn little thing and I've had a fair share of Sprite baths in the face! She's been prescribed Hydrocodone for pain and we've been giving it to her as needed (which seems to be often) since Monday. The doctor says that he'll have to admit her back into the hospital if she doesn't start drinking more soon. She hasn't been peeing enough to prove that she's hydrated. I pray that today is a turn-around day for her! She was so funny this morning though. I gave her some pain medicine before heading out the door with the kids for school this morning. I was hoping it would kick in quickly because she was holding her mouth and crying in a way that sounded very much like she was saying "ow" and I hate to see her hurting. Well, it started raining so I turned on the wipers in the car. She was in her car seat swaying from side to side with the wipers and laughing so hard. It was this great big belly laugh. She just kept pointing at the windshield wipers and giggling like that was the funniest thing she's ever seen. I think it's safe to say that her medicine kicked in! It was good to see her happy, but sad that it was a drug-induced euphoria. I really hope she feels better today. I'd hate to have to take her back to the hospital. I decided to reschedule her intestinal surgery. That appointment has been moved to September 21st. I already dread it.
♥♥♥♥I woke up Tuesday morning feeling like I'd been run over by a car. I went to the doctor and was informed that I have pneumonia. Apparently, that's popular in McNabb Land because I feel like one of us always has it. Anyway, I feel like crap ,er, I mean, I feel awful. It feels like I have a house sitting on my chest! This couldn't have happened at a worse time. To semi-quote the Little Rascals, I feel like someone's looking down at me saying, "I hate you Kaleena!!" Pause while I play a sad song on my invisible violin. Okay, enough wining!
♥♥♥♥Paisley is still doing okay in school. I'm a little worried about her spelling skills, though. She doesn't really seems to understand Spelling. Or maybe it's the phonics that she struggles with. I can tell her to spell a word and she always replaces her /S/ with /R/ for some reason. Her teacher says not to worry yet . I guess she'll pick up on it when she's ready. Paisley is still really excited to go to school every morning and comes home really happy in the afternoon. That little boy is still swearing he's going to marry her when he turns 8, so maybe that has something to do with her liking school. She's only 6, that's a little young to be so boy crazy, right? Her daddy is talking about buying a shot gun! Ha! I can see it now. Heaven help us!
♥♥♥♥Destiny, on the other hand, is not doing all that well in school now. She's been getting in trouble almost every day. She made fun of a little boy, refused to come in from the playground (the teacher had to drag her in), and one day she left class without telling her teacher. That poor teacher was FREAKING OUT! She said Destiny just disappeared. Yesterday, Destiny got in trouble for using the school PA system. The principal said she just walked into the office and spoke into the microphone for the entire school to hear. All she said was "Hello everybody" but that's still not a good idea. I just don't understand why she's acting out. She already gets too much attention because of her fainting spells, but maybe that's the problem, she gets too much attention, you think? I just don't know what to do with her anymore.
♥♥♥♥One thing I haven't mentioned yet is my mom. After my breast cancer scare, I convinced her to go have a mammogram. She'd never had one before and I really thought she should be checked. I offered to make the appointment for her, if need be. She went for her mammogram on August 21st and they found something suspicious so they sent her over to have a breast ultrasound. Afterwards, they wanted to schedule her for an immediate MRI. The doctor said that it looked like cancer (maybe?) and wanted to have it checked ASAP. So, after the MRI results came back, she was scheduled to have a biopsy. The biopsy was done on August 27th. She got the results back on Monday. It was a little unnerving to wait for the results at the same time we were waiting for Laney's surgery. Like a double stresser! Anyway, the results weren't what we hoped for. Now she is having a lumpectomy (did I spell that right?) so that they can get things moving. The doctor says that it's not positively cancer, but it does look too suspicious to wait and see. I don't know when the lumpectomy is scheduled yet, but I'm praying that everything turns out okay. If you feel led to, my mom would be glad to be remembered in your prayers too!
♥♥♥♥Well, that's about all the updates I have time for right now. My sweet Laney is stirring from her nap and it sounds like her pain meds have worn off. Lord, please heal Delaney's hurt and restore her to the happy, smiley little cherub that she usually is! Amen.
Have a blessed day and I will try to check in on some of your blogs later. Please know that, even if I don't have time to comment, I am still lurking around your lives (that sounded stalker-ish, didn't it?) and keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

My goodness, so much going on at your house it seems! I hope Delany is better soon and that it will help with her eating like that said it would. Hopefully Paisley will get the letters correct in spelling. I have no idea what to suggest for Destiny. I pray that your mom will be okay. And you too with that pneumonia. Get well soon!
