Arrhythmia and a Heart Monitor
We're home from the cardiologist now. I must say, the praying helped Destiny with the nervousness. She was a little trooper when we went in there today. She handled all the testing like a pro...NO TEARS!!! She failed her EKG and her ECHO. Failed? Can I say that? I'm not sure if it's considered failing. The long and the short of it is that Destiny has some type of arrhythmia in her heart beat. The cardiologist feels that this arrhythmia is what is causing Destiny to faint (not the anxiety like the hospital originally thought) and that the anxiety is just an underlying result of the larger picture. SIMPLY PUT: Her heart is beating in a way that is not normal and it is causing her anxiety because it scares her when she feels it beating this "new way." She has complained to me before about feeling her heart beat too hard in her chest, but it is usually after she's done something extremely physical like running or jumping. So, I've always told her it's normal for her heart to feel that way after she plays. Unfortunately, she misunderstood us and told herself it is normal for her heart to feel that way anytime-during rest or play. Her heart, at rest today, was acting up and they were able to do the EKG and finally see what it does when it acts funny. Praise be to God Almighty for giving us the opportunity to FINALLY have some answers!! Destiny will be wearing a monitor for at least the next 30 days so that we can monitor her heart and see how often she is having this arrhythmia and maybe find out how long the arrhythmic episodes are lasting. Please continue to pray for her little heart. We are hopeful that this arrhythmia is something that can be treated quickly and simply with very little change to her already hectic life. Thank you all for the extra prayers this morning and for the prayers that I know will continue as we learn more about Destiny's heart.

I'm glad that you have some answers. I assume she's on a holter monitor? I hope that it will give the doctors the info they need to know how to proceed with your little one. :)
ReplyDeleteSo GLAD for answers, even though that means something is going on. It's FAR WORSE, as you can well attest I'm sure, to know in your heart something's wrong and not be able to name it. Maybe now they can FIX it. And wouldn't it be wonderful if those fainting spells became a thing of the PAST?!
ReplyDeleteStill thinkinng of you, dear Kaleena, and your test tomorrow. I am praying. (((hugs)))
I will be praying for you & all your family. What a lot you have had to carry this year.
ReplyDeleteThere is a technique that might help Destiny with her anxiety (it won't help her heart, of course, but it may make her feel more in control & thus less anxious). It is called EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique.
I have several dear friends (Christian friends, this isn't some woo-woo new age something) who swear by it. You can google it or email me if you wish.
Continuing to pray.
If her sweet little heart is anywhere near the strength of yours than she is no doubt one tough cookie :) I am so glad you may have some answers with easier solutions. Prayers for tomorrow! Give that precious girl a hug for me!
ReplyDeleteThank God for fainting spells if this is God's way to let us know she needs answers on what her heart is doing. It brings it to your attention that things may not be exactly like they should be.
ReplyDeleteHopefully medication can correct all that and she'll be back to feeling 100% healthy again.
Will pray for all of you.
Keep us posted. :) we love you.
What a blessing for her to have such a productive test this morning. So glad that you have a plan and some answers for your sweet little girl.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that she could go through the testing without being completely freaked out. She was being so brave, no doubt because she felt the peace that you showed to her.
Continued prayers for answers and easy solutions.......
I'm so glad that they found it and you now have some answers! I've been lurking for awhile, so I remember when she was fainting. I'm very glad that there is an answer and you can all move forward with healing her little heart in the best way possible! Prayers being sent your families way! (((hugs)))
