The girls and I were outside playing. Well, really, we were just walking around the yard trying to find something to do. Destiny and Paisley were helping Delaney pick flowers and Krysta was following me around like my own personal shadow. She's just like that sometimes. She's a sweet little thing. We always have the sweetest conversations. I've always thought that she "knows" things. Things other children just don't seem to get sometimes. I'm more convinced than ever now.
Krysta: "Momma, (she calls me that now) don't step on the dandelions!"
Me: "Why not! They won't hurt me."
Krysta: "No momma, you'll hurt them!" (almost in tears at this point)
Me: "Oh, it'll be fine. They'll die and new ones will grow in their place. Dandelions are just weeds, not pretty flowers like roses and daisies. We don't need these dandelions to make our yard pretty."
Krysta: "But momma, those dandelions aren't weeds. I try to tell everbody but they don't believe me! They're angels that grow here. When you pick them, they fly away. I just know they're angels! You see the wings? When I blow them, I make a wish and the angels fly my wish up to heaven and whisper it in God's ear. That's how God knowed (I love how she talks!!) I wanted a momma & daddy! I made it a wish on my dandelion angels and they flyed up to heaven and told God to give me you. PLease don't step on my angels, you're breaking their wings!"
I'll never be able to look at dandelions the same way again. God bless Krysta and her dandelion angels for opening my eyes.

The eyes of a child. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat made me smile. So so sweet. I don't think that I will ever look at a dandelion the same way again either;)
ReplyDeleteWow, she's a very deep thinker! And yes I can see how you'd think that she knows things that others don't...I don't think I'll ever look at a dandelion again without thinking about what she said!!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and wise beyond her years! "An old soul" perhaps! How lucky for her to be put in our path to nurture and love as if she were your own!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. It is amazing what is in the head, eyes, minds of kids sometimes. She is one of those where you just never know what she is going to say. Very profound actually. Now she has me thinking about those dandelions I have outside.
ReplyDeleteWow she is an amazing little girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July!
