I had the oddest experience on Thursday. I had an allergic reaction to something (still not sure what) that soon turned anaphylactic. My throat was swelling and it was getting REALLY scary. I was given epi. I'm not sure how it happened, but the nurse that gave me the epi apparently gave me too much. From what I hear, I was suppose to get .3cc's and she gave me 1 full cc. Next thing I know, I feel like I'm having a heart attack. My heart rate, before I lost consciousness, was 276. Next thing I know, I'm being unloaded from an ambulance at a hospital I didn't recognize, with heart monitor leads hooked to me and 2 IV lines in my arms. Talk about being freaked out! I'm fine now, but it was really a strange experience for me, as I seem to be having alot of anaphylactic reactions lately. I've never had one quite this severe before and I've NEVER been given too much epi. I have no idea why I wasn't carrying my epi pen with me, but I wasn't anywhere near it. I think this is going to be one of those hard lessons learned. I'm still feeling really yucky, so this is a short post. I will try to post more later this weekend. Blessings to you all!

I am so glad that you are ok! I can't believe what happened to you. It's so good to hear that Delaney is doing well. Take care.... the both of you.
ReplyDeleteKaleena....when it rains at your house, it pours. I'm sooo sorry about your epi episode....I'm glad that all turned out well. I know it scared the p-turkey out of you. It would have scared me!
ReplyDeleteGive Laney bug a kiss for me....and Destiny and Paisely, too. Take care of you.
Smiles from Jackie
Glad you are okay and Laney is doing okay.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself. Sometimes those lessons learned are the best. We learn from our mistakes, and happenings around us.
Have a great week end.
How scary for you. Start feeling better soon. As for Laney, I'm glad to hear that she is on the road to recovery. Take care of yourself. Get some pants with deep pockets and always carry that epi pen. Thanks for posting - we start to get worried when the gaps are too long between posts.
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I'm glad that you and your little Laney bug are doing better. I hate the jumpy feeling of epinephrine leaves behind. I cannot even imagine how scary it must have been to have too much of it!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that was scary for you. Would be for me too. I hope you don't have any more episodes like that.
