Almost Only Counts In Horseshoes and Hand Grenades

Saturday was free day at the Knoxville Zoo. We were very excited that they were offering free admission and made plans to take the girls. Destiny and Paisley love the zoo, but this would be Laney's first visit. It costs so much for zoo tickets for all five of us, so a family trip is a very rare treat. We woke up early on Saturday and were in the car and on the road by 9. It takes us about an hour and a half to get there and we wanted to be there shortly after the zoo opened. Let me just say that I love the zoo as much as my older girls and I was so excited to be taking Laney for her first zoo visit. It would cost $72.75 for all five of us to pay to go to the zoo and that's just not in our budget, so Free Day was going to be a real gift to us. I have never been able to take my older girls on a zoo trip. My sister (she's single and has no kids!) has always been more financially able to take the girls, so she has taken them the handful of times they've gone. It was really exciting for me to be able to finally see all three of my girls experience the zoo!
Well, we weren't the only family excited about free day at the zoo. I needed to get off the interstate at exit 392. I made it to exit 389 and then traffic was at a standstill. We sat in the same spot for 2 HOURS!!! Then we were able to inch up a little and sit for another half hour. After 3 hours of sitting in traffic, we made it to the sign that says exit 392 One Mile. The kids were restless and the adults were restless and we were ALMOST there. Almost. Of course, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, right? Anyway....
After a almost 2 hour drive and 3 hours of sitting in traffic, we finally made it to the exit. Yay! We're ALMOST there I announce. We almost made it. Laney's clapping and Destiny is clapping and the adults are clapping and...oh, what's Paisley doing?! Throwing up all over the car and all over herself. Then Destiny is crying and throwing up (weak stomach...one look and there she goes!!) and Delaney is crying because everyone else is crying and then I cry as I turn the car around and head back home after our VERY LONG almost trip to the zoo. I guess free day was not meant for us.
