I Guess This Knocks Me Out Of The Running

I got up this morning and got the kids ready for school. Things were going quickly today. We finished getting ready in record time. I fixed hair, helped brush teeth, and made sure that books and lunch boxes were in backpacks. Yes, I was feeling pretty darn good about myself. Until they came home this afternoon. The first thing Paisley said when she got in the car was, "mom, I'm starving, I didn't get lunch." She then went on to explain that the reason she didn't get lunch is because her lunch box was empty. So what did I place in her lunch this morning? An ice pack. That's all. No food. No drink. Just an ice pack. I had a sense of deja vu when Destiny got home. She walked in the door and said, "mom, I didn't get to eat lunch today." Why not? Uh oh, let me guess. All you had in your lunch box was an ice pack? Yep. I guess I won't be getting a mother-of-the-year award this year. I should be fired.

  1. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Stuff like that happens! :)
At our school, the lunch ladies always made a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for situations like this.

  2. I just came across your blog from blog frog. I was reading you husbands profile and I saw he had surgery for a Chiari malformation. I have one as well and have debated about surgery. Did the surgery help your husband? It seems like it does for some and others still have issues with it after surgery? Thanks! Maura

  3. Our school too Kaleena, will make a pbj for any kid who doesn't have money in their account or forgot lunch at home. It happens to us all!

  4. Man! I've had days like that too. Luckily I work at my kids' school and we live just across the street (or parking lot rather) and so I can also save the day!

  5. I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. I guess I won't be the only one without an award either. LOL I have my share of mess ups weekly! A couple of days ago, I made everybody breakfast but Caleb. I realized this about a half an hour after he left. Oh well... he was still alive when he got home from school;)

  6. I smiled as I read this...
Well, at least their lunch box was probably the 'koolest' lunch box in school.
I can't think of a school that wouldn't give a student a lunch if he/she didn't bring one or have one...and I'm hoping that your school is no exception.
You might not be M.O.T.Y....but you got a smile from me.
