So we started our night with a visit to the emergency room with Paisley. I took Paisley while my sister-in-law kept Destiny. My mom was sitting with Delaney for us. Anyway...I was sitting in Paisley's ER room waiting on the doctor to come in. Paisley had a fever of 105 and I had been alternating between Motrin and Tylenol all day and it just wouldn't let up. They were doing chest x-rays of Paisley when my sister-in-law called. She was in a panic. Destiny had been playing with my niece and was fine one minute and the next minute she was on the floor passed out cold. My sister-in-law said it was hard to get her to come back to so I asked her to bring Destiny in to the ER so I could have her seen by a doctor. When she got to the ER, Destiny had fainted again in the car on the way. She was brought into the same room with Paisley and laid on the bed. She was so pale that you couldn't even tell she has freckles! The doctor ordered x-rays and a complete blood work up. My husband came to be with me and I took Destiny back to radiology. While they were starting the x-rays she passed out again and remained unconscious through out the whole radiology process. We put her in a wheel chair after she woke up and took her back to the room. Over the next hour, Destiny fainted numerous times. She had no fever, no elevated blood count, and no signs of pneumonia. Paisley tested positive for the flu, so they checked Destiny and she was flu negative. They then transferred Destiny to a different ER room away from Paisley and started giving both girls IV fluids. Paisley was mad when they stuck her and it took four people to hold her down. When her fluids were started, she was transferred to a room on the floor. Her fever was still very high and they decided to monitor her at least over night. I called my sister to come sit with Paisley so that I could get back with Destiny. The doctor called her pediatrician and together they decided that Destiny needed to be at a Children's hospital. They determined that Destiny's problem is not viral or bacterial so she needs to see some specialists for cardiology and neurology. She was transferred via ambulance to a hospital an hour away. Her daddy rode with her in the ambulance and I followed in our car. When we got her to the hospital, my husband said that Destiny and passed out again in the ambulance. After restarting her IV (the vein blew during transport) she was subjected to a number of tests. As of now, she has had an EEG, EKG, Echo, full blood panel, and so many others I can't remember the names of. She will be getting a CT scan and an MRI on Monday. The only thing they are telling us is that so far she doesn't appear to have any illnesses that would benefit from antibiotic treatment. The scans they do tomorrow are to check for abnormalities in her head. They seem to be trying to rule out Chiari Malformation. They have asked us tons of questions about Bobby's illness and even requested access to his medical records. We are just in a wait and see mode now. Please pray for my girls. Paisley's fever is still holding strong despite efforts to lower it with what seems like an un-Godly amount of fever reducing meds. We hope she starts to improve this evening. In case you lost count, last night put the "total number of McNabb Children in the hospital" to 3. One in a local hospital, one half an hour away, and one in a pediatric hospital an hour away. Sheesh! Who have we made angry?
Here are a few pictures I took of my 2 newest hospital detainees....keep the 3 of them in your prayers and hope that at least 1 or 2 are released very quickly! All 3 coming home would be better though.
My poor Paisley was feeling so terrible.

My sweet Paisley's IV line.

This is a picture of them loading my sweet Destiny into the ambulance to transport her to a Children's Hospital. The hospital she was at was not equipped to care for her needs.

Ambulance again.

This is Destiny after arriving at the hospital via ambulance. The nurses were getting ready to replace her IV line that blew in the hallway as they were unloading her from the ambulance.

Kaleena, I hardly know what to say. I'll pray for strength for you and healing and wellness for all three girls. I'm so sorry this seems to be never-ending :) Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Kaleena. I'm speechless. How are YOU doing with all of this? Praying for your whole family. Please keep us updated. Hang in there, dear.
ReplyDeleteI agree that words seem so inadequate in a time like this; I am so sorry you all are facing such difficult times - I really can't imagine. I will be praying for all of you as well as enlisting some friends. Please be reminded that you are NEVER alone!
ReplyDeleteI have come here from Robynn's blog after she posted about your blog and all you are going through. I had to go back to the beginning to figure it all out. It overwhelms me how much you are going through. I will definitely keep you and your precious family in my prayers.
