I tried to find the time to blog this weekend, but it just didn't happen. This time of the year is busy for everyone (I think!) and it's so hard to keep my ducks in a row. Delaney seems to be feeling a little better. Her cough sounds better than it did and we are basically just dealing with a runny nose now. Yay for Laney feeling better!!!! The school nurse called me to pick up Destiny early on Friday( She was coughing her head off and running a fever ( I guess it's her turn to be sick now. At least they are taking turns and sharing, right? ♥♥♥♥♥We woke up to snow on Saturday morning!!!!! You should have seen how excited the girls were to see snow on the ground. We NEVER get snow here so it was really exciting to see that much white on the ground. It's all melted away now, but it was there Saturday! This was Delaney's first time ever seeing snow and she was so amazed with watching it fall:) ♥♥♥♥♥I'm still working on their Christmas dresses. Sewing by hand is a LONG process, but I'm getting there. I don't have a pattern to work from (and NO EXPERIENCE at sewing!!!) so I only know how to make one dress style. All three girls will have identical dresses when I get them finished. Paisley's dress is complete except for the buttons on the back and Destiny's needs just a little work on the hemline. I've cut Laney's fabric and pieced it together, but still need to start on the sewing. It should only take a little time to get Laney's finished so I've saved it for last:) I can't wait to get them done so that I can show you all how they look in them. I'm very proud of how they've turned out and I know that you all will be proud of me:) ♥♥♥♥♥I posted last week about my Christmas tree being broken. I was so sad that we weren't going to be able to put up a tree this year. Well, it's not broken anymore!!!! My husband took a good look at it and decided to try to fix it. He was able to weld it a little and remove some branches and shorten it. It now looks as good as new!!!! Here's a picture:
We went to the Dollar Store this weekend and I found the cutest little stockings for $1 each. We had matching Christmas stockings from when the big girls were younger, but I haven't been able to find another one to match for Delaney. These new ones that I bought came with iron-on letters so that I could put their names on them. I think they look SO CUTE and $1 was a deal that was too good to pass up! I'm always looking for a good bargain aand I've hit on quite a few good bargains recently. I've been so worried about Christmas gifts for the kids. Money has been so tight with my husband being laid off. We finally got his unemployment started, but where he was out of work so much this past year with his surgeries. He only qualifies for $8 a week in unemployment benefits. Ha! Big check, right?! I almost called the government and told them to keep it because maybe they need it more than we do:) BUT every little bit helps and I was able to take his first check (which included back pay) and buy each of the girls a few things to put under the tree for Christmas. Promise not to tell them what Santa's bringing them? We found these little wooden rocking chairs on sale for $7 so we bought them each a chair. We found Delaney a little pop-up play tent for $6 and the big girls are both getting Barbie dress up sets. I picked out a blonde doll for Paisley and a brunette doll for Destiny. Both dolls came with 2 extra outfits and we only paid $8 for each doll set! We spent less than $50 and were able to buy all three of our girls 2 presents each. I'm just happy that we'll have something to give them on Christmas morning. They'll be happy too:)
That's all the time I have to post right now. I have a few more things to post about later when I find the time:) I gotta get back to work on their dresses before Miss Laneybug gets cranky. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend:)
No crankiness from Laney bug...nosiree...She is feeling better, and I'm thankful for that!
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see that you got snow....and how happy the girls were to see it.
Tell them Ms. Jackie would have done a back flip because she's only seen it a few times in her life (and she's going on 60 years of age!)
The tree is lovely. Isn't it wonderful what the hubbies can do when they put their minds and talents to work. It saved $$...and it looks beautiful. Hats off to Bobby. Tell him what a great job he did.
Success to you as you finish the dresses for the girls. I admire you for making them by hand.
Continue to take care of yourself, Kaleena.
It's the season to celebrate the birthday of the King...and He will take care of His children. You know that He will.
Hugs and smiles to you,
Jackie
Kaleena, Well done to you and hubby on making the best of your situation. You are doing so much to make this a great Christmas for your family and I'm sure that all will come right shortly. You are in my thoughts at this time.
