Finally! Some New Pictures

I'm feeling a little better now. My jaw is really the only thing that bothers me now. I'm still having problems with chewing....it hurts! At least I'm making progress with the healing:)

I've been super busy (what's new, huh?) and just realized that it's been a long time since I posted any pictures on here. My older girls are a little harder to track down these days. They have grown tired (WHAT!) of me constantly sticking my camera in their faces. Delaney is still a somewhat willing participant, so I captured her doing some therapy. Seems we spend an awful lot of time doing therapy these days. I figure, you might as well see her doing what she loves best.
Sorry these were taken with my phone!

Here she is with Tina, her Occupational therapist. She loves to play with Tina. They are reading a book in this picture. Tina will hold Delaney's hand and help her open and close her fingers to turn the pages and feel of the different textures on each page.
In this one, Tina has Laney sitting on a seat that spins around. She is trying to encourage Delaney to turn herself around to play with the toy. Delaney doesn't like anything that moves.
In this one, Delaney and Tina are sitting on a ball in front of a mirror. She will slowly bounce Delaney around while allowing Delaney to make faces at herself in the mirror. She's hoping to encourage Delaney to enjoy various forms of play.
This is Delaney with her speech pathologist, Victoria. This is the only picture that I have from speech because Delaney usually won't let Victoria close enough to touch her. After more than a year, she still doesn't really seem to like meeting with Victoria.

Delaney is making improvement during therapy. She's learning alot and is able to do more than she was able to do before starting therapy. I am so glad the she's had the opportunity to
get the extra help she needs. Tina set some new goals for Laney today. She pointed out to me that Delaney would rather sit in a chair with a book than to get down on the floor with toys. She doesn't hop around or run and jump like you would expect a 2 year old to do. She also doesn't roll around
or try to act real silly. She's such a serious little thing! Tina wants us to try to encourage her to step outside her comfort zone and try new ways to play. She's hoping that if we show her that doing some of those things will be fun maybe she will decide to do those things on her own.
Also, in speech today, Laney said some new words for the first time ever: car(she said that one pretty plainly!), please (sounded like peeze!), cow (caw!), moo(said caw moo, caw moo!), quack (asked her what the duck says, she answered ack ack!). Now the words weren't perfectly pronounced, but she said them clearly enough to where we got what she was trying to say. I was over-the-moon. I am one proud momma!
Anyway......there's a little update on Delaney. I will try to post some pictures of my big girls soon. I also need to take some pictures of their room since we repaired all of the damage. Then, there's the new dresses that I've made them. I need to take pictures of those too. Maybe I'll wait to show you the new dresses until they wear them.

Smiles to you all:)

  1. You have a good phone! Mine don't take pictures like that, but I tote my camera around practically everywhere. I think my kids are just used to it.

Yay Delaney! May you discover that playing is fun!

  2. Lol! Yeah, RaD, my phone does pretty good with pictures, but not as good as my camera. I almost always have my camera bag close by, but I usually don't get to sit in on a session in therapy. I usually have to sit in the waiting room. Wouldn't you know that the one time they invite me back with her I don't have my camera close by!

  3. Your phone does take pretty good pictures! Mine come out all grainy.

It's good that they're pushing Delaney to find some fun in other things. As a sit-in-the-chair-with-a-book kid myself, I don't think I learned how to run around and play for quite a while either!

  5. Beth @embracing,
My phone is a LG Tritan. It's a neat little phone that makes texting super easy (I text alot! It saves on minutes!)and until today, I never realized it took decent pictures. I always use my good camera so I never need to use the camera on my phone:)
I was a sit-and-read kid too! I hope that Delaney learns to enjoy playing. I'm sure she'll get the hand of it eventually!

  8. Thanks for posting pictures of sweet Delaney. I am glad she is progressing in her therapy sessions. My granddaughter E had therapy until she was 9 which proved invaluable to her physical strength and stamina. It is wonderful to get one on one help from such kind and caring professionals. Now, if your jaw would just start feeling better.

  10. Sweet pictures of that sweet little thing:) I feel bad that she has to go through all of the extra help. I'm so glad that she has it. I just feel bad. I always feel bad about everything. Oh well, I guess that means that I have some heart in me. :) I just care about people.

I can't wait to see the pictures of the new dresses!

    Love,
    Jenny
